Terms of Service

The rules for using Audio Trimmer: what the browser tools do, what the free Windows app covers, and your responsibilities when processing audio and video.

Last updated: 2026-10-17

Accepting these terms

By using the Audio Trimmer website, its browser tools, or the free Windows separation application it recommends, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the service. These terms exist to keep the service usable, honest and available: they define what the tools do, what you may process, what free means here, and what happens when something breaks.

What the service is

Audio Trimmer is a collection of focused audio tools delivered as web pages. Each page targets one job — trimming audio, extracting the sound from a video, muting an iPhone clip, removing vocals from a song, removing background music from a video — and each page runs its browser-side processing locally in your tab. The heavier vocal and music separation is performed by a free, open-source Windows application that we recommend but do not operate. Nothing in the browser tools uploads your media; nothing in the recommended application requires an account with us, because we have no accounts at all.

Free means free

There is no paid tier, no credits system, no watermark, no daily quota, and no account wall. The browser tools are free to use, and the recommended Windows application is free and open source under its own licence. If a paid product ever appears, it will be a separate, clearly labelled offering; these terms govern the free service as it exists today, and material changes will be reflected here before they take effect.

Your responsibilities

The tools are neutral technology; the use is yours. You agree that you will only process audio and video files you own or are licensed to process. In particular:

  • Separating vocals or background music from a file does not transfer any copyright in that file or its contents. A karaoke track of someone else's song, an isolated vocal stem, and a music-free video remix are all derivative of the original work and follow the original's licensing.
  • You will not use the tools to circumvent technical protection measures, to process pirated media, or to produce material that infringes third-party rights.
  • You remain responsible for complying with the laws that apply to you, including copyright, privacy (if other people are audible or visible in your recordings), and platform rules where you publish results.

We do not monitor what you process — we technically cannot, since your files never leave your device — but we also do not indemnify uses that break the law or someone else's rights.

No warranty

The service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Audio separation is a probabilistic technology: results vary with the source material, and residue, artifacts or imperfect stems are normal outcomes, not defects covered by any guarantee. We say this openly on every tool page, and we would rather set honest expectations than overpromise.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Audio Trimmer and its contributors are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits or goodwill arising from your use of the service. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for the service — which, given the price, is zero. This is standard for free tools, and we prefer stating it plainly to hiding it.

Third-party components

The service is assembled from third-party components, each under its own licence and terms: FFmpeg (compiled to WebAssembly for the browser tools), the Web Audio API implemented by your browser, jsDelivr as a public content delivery network, GitHub for release downloads, and the Ultimate Vocal Remover project as the recommended Windows separation application. Their trademarks belong to their owners; their licences govern their components; and their availability is not guaranteed by us. If a third-party component changes in a way that breaks a tool, we will fix or replace it, but we do not control their roadmaps.

Acceptable use

You will not attempt to disrupt the service, overload its hosting, scrape it in ways that degrade availability for others, or misrepresent the tools' capabilities in redistributions. You may link to any page freely. You may quote from the pages with attribution. You may not mirror the site and present it as your own product.

Changes to the service and these terms

The service evolves: pages gain features, the recommended desktop engine may change, and honest limitations may improve. These terms may be updated to match; the date at the top reflects the current version, and continued use after an update constitutes acceptance of it. If a change is ever fundamental — for example, introducing accounts or paid processing — it will be called out explicitly rather than slipped in.

Termination

You may stop using the service at any time by closing the tab; because there are no accounts, there is nothing to cancel. We may restrict access that abuses the hosting or the letter of these terms, to the limited extent static hosting allows, and we will publish the reason if that ever happens.

Governing notes

These terms and any disputes arising from them are governed by the laws applicable at the project's place of establishment, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, to the extent such a choice is permitted. Where mandatory consumer protection law gives you rights that cannot be waived, those rights remain untouched by anything written here.

Contact

Audio Trimmer does not publish a support email address. Questions about these terms can be raised in the project's public issue tracker, linked from the contact page, where answers are visible to everyone facing the same question. If a term here conflicts with a promise made on a tool page, the tool page's promise wins for that tool — and please report the conflict so the documents can be reconciled in the next update.
